Spring Perfume Part 2: Yves Saint Laurent’s Parisienne

Posted on: March 9, 2010

If you think Miss Dior Chérie is too young and playful for you, while you still enjoy a floral and sweet scent; Yves Saint Laurent’s Parisienne will be your best choice.

Yves Saint Laurent's Parisienne Eau De Parfum 1.6 oz/ 50 ml and baby Yves Saint Laurent's Parisienne Eau De Parfum

Parisienne was launched last year as a variation, or a newer version of the brand’s widely acclaimed perfume, Paris. Differentiated from other YSL perfumes such as Elle, Opium, and Paris, Parisenne is targeted to those mature and romantic souls aged around 30. If you need to picture what Parisenne would look like, it’s that Kate Moss in this perfume’s  TV commercial.

Parisienne’s notes include: vinyl accord, cranberry, blackberry, damask rose, violet, peony, patchouli, vetiver, sandalwood, and musk. The top notes are very fruity, if you look for it, splashes of cranberry and blackberry greet your nose first, and then quickly transform to a rose-violet floral scent. The Damask rose fragrance lingers much longer than the berries, slowly settles down to a warm mixture of sandalwood and peony. I believe what makes this fragrance so romantic and intimate, is not the marketing indications from its TV commercial; but rather, the lingering hint of the peony scent. When I am writing this review, I spray the fragrance onto my wrist. As the fragrance sets, the peony scent becomes so addicting, I cannot stop brushing my wrist against my nose. The fragrance then travels from my nose to my throat, leaving an indescribable sweet feeling. Now, just picture this: you spray this perfume behind your ears, let your body temperature warm up the fragrance, and you are ready for your late night date…I leave the rest to your own imagination…

The color palette for the perfume is just beautiful: a delicate pink reflected into a pale mauve contrasted with the black of the YSL logo. The golden cap adds weight to the entire bottle, reminding the audience: this fragrance is for a mature woman who knows how to love, and how to live.

So what are you waiting for? wear it as a floral dress, embrace the spring in your life.
